Mechanical Engineering @ UBTECH Robotics

My work at UBTECH gave me a valuable opportunity to validate the mechanical design of a vehicular robotic prototype. My work thus far:

  1. Mechanical design optimization through topology optimization and DFMA. Re-designed sheet metal and CNC structures, conducting FEA to verify re-design's structural integrity.

  2. Depth sensors hardware build, quality testing and firmware maintenance.

  3. Designed electronics mount brackets, to be modular and allow for electronics' serviceability.

  4. Drafted manufacturing drawings for the external manufacturing of chassis parts, working with vendors from Asia.

  5. Carried out the mechanical testing of the prototype by interpreting micro-controller IMU, gyroscope and encoder data in Matlab, and obtaining data using test scripts in ROS

    • Characterized linear, rotational velocities, braking distance using encoder counts

    • Identified suspension damping inadequacies, by determining pitch from gyroscope data

    • Took charge of procuring and fabricating test obstacles
